KDE 3.5.6 for Dapper??How to Compile

    Hi
As officially Dapper is ignored and there are no packages of KDE 3.5.6 for it. I want to compile KDE personally and install them over my existing system. i am downloading tar balls from KDE.org. Plz guide me what extra things i need to compile KDE and install it. and what are the side effects of this way?
i asked this question on several forums but now answer is given to me at last i am at official kubuntu forum. Plz guide me thnx for reading this message
I have tried also Konstruct but i think compiling manually more suites me as i want to overwrite my existing KDE installation.
    Regards

Hmm - claydoh said (Topic: kde 3.5.6 for drapper/http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=13210.0)

No, they are not planning to do it for dapper, I think it would involve upgrading so many other packages you would basically end up with Edgy or Feisty anyway
    So - after compiling -> selfmade Edgy/Feisty

    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?
    1. Thread: Please explain how to access old kubuntu forum posts

I hate edgy. it is so so so unstable on my pc while dapper works fine. but
      The KDE.
I think i have to do some thing myself.
      Why then Dapper is LTS??
KDE are Planning to relese KDE4 during this year then Dapper will also left as it is because it would require more upgrading than present KDE release. then why they say it LTS

LTS (Long term support) means it'll get security updates for it's whole support cycle (which is three years on the desktop)...not that it'll get the latest software packages for that time. So it'll remain 'stable' and secure for a longer time.
(Note that newer software packages are the most likely reason why you've found edgy to be unstable, if dapper works nice and stable, it's because it uses the older, better tested packages)

I'm pretty sure KDE4 will not get backported to older releases once it comes out (I'm hoping to get it for feisty+1, depending on when KDE4 is released).

If you really wish to look into compling kde for yourself (I don't think 3.5.6 is a big enough improvement to be worth the effort ), then this page might be a good place to start digging:

I want to give a try edgy by upgrading my system if it can do something for me.
