Windows User Moving To kubuntu needs help

Hi, I currently have a dell machine that has windows xp on it. I would like to run kubuntu on it.

I have the cd and burnt it as an iso. I run the install and everything goes ok. I read somewhere about taking the quiet option out of the command line so i did.

Here's the thing. The install runs until you get to the screen that says something like "ubuntu has not warrenty". Then the screen goes black and the cursor goes in the upper left hand corner but doesn't blink ( the cursor looks like this _ )

I don't know what to do and I'm extremely new to linux.

it would help if you posted the spec of the system that you are trying to install on ...

    second option
    try the alternative cd install

    third option
try burning the ISO image at a slower speed ...

      Burn the install CD s l o w, mine worked at 4X.

Just an idea - after you burn the CD just run the install as it comes with no modifications.
