Can I use the same repositories from ubuntu with kubuntu?

Can I use the same repositories from ubuntu with kubuntu? I'm asking this because I do not have any experience with kubuntu but I think that I have read somewhere that if you put ubuntu repositories in kubuntu, and try to update your system that GNOME enviroment will be installed automatically? I don't want GNOME installed on my system. Is this correct or not? So, can I put ubuntu repositories and use them with kubuntu with no problem? And if I can, can someone tell me some good repositories? I'm have plan to use those from mirrors.kernel.org, but any other suggestion will be welcome.

    Many thanks in advance.

What you heard is incorrect. Simply because Ubuntu and Kubuntu (as well as Xubuntu and Edubuntu) all use the same repositories, which are Ubuntu's repositories. GNOME won't get installed if you don't tell it to install GNOME. Nothing gets installed without your permission.

You can and are already using Ubuntu repositories anyway.

Cool. Thanks man. So, to be 100% sure, I have Kubuntu installed on a test machine, with KDE as GUI. Now when i run apt-get update and apt-get upgrade it should install all updates but not GNOME?

But if I want to install GNOME I should use apt-get install gnome or something similar. In Fedora the correct command is yum groupinstall 'X Window System' 'GNOME Desktop Environment' but I do not know in Kubuntu. You do not have to tell me the correct command, I will find it my self. I just what to know if installation of GNOME (for example), is easy like in Fedora.

      thanks.

Gnome is not one big package, but hundreds of packages and libraries that altogether form what normally is referred to as Gnome. Some packages like firefox make use of gnome libraries, so having them installed will result in some Gnome packages installed on your system and therefore also being updated. This doesn't mean however that an update will remove kdm and sneak in gdm or something like that - long story short, the update will behave like you want it to
