I have tried with both the alternate install and the live cd. none of them will install or run on my system. I have an AMD 2600+ on an asus k8n mobo, with 1Gb of memory, I am running xp on my 300Gb sata drive. I want to install kubuntu on my 80Gb ide drive. I get to the point where it looks for ohci and then it will freeze. I have tried both 6.06 and 6.10 with both kubuntu and ubuntu. the result is the same with both. I also have wireless internet, and a usb keyboard/mouse combo.

Could be the wireless keyboard. Try installing with a conventional, aka wired, keyboard. -

I have tried with no USB item attached to my system. the disc freezes at: ohci_hcd 0000:00:02.0 OHCI Host Controller
OHCI_HCD 0000:00:02.0 new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1
Anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this issue?
I really want to switch to Kubuntu and get totally away from xpComment

Try in Safe Graphics Mode. I faced same problem, and I got successed to install Kubunt and Ubuntu both. 6.06.Comment
