How do you enable boot status messages similiar to F2 in other distros?

    Hi,

AFAIK, You can't do it interactively, but you can do it by modifying the file /boot/grub/menu.lst, remove, splash from the line you boot usually...

    Cheers

Thanks for the info --- I was talking about booting from the live CD. I stumbled into the help menus (press ESC) and tried the "live-expert" boot. It apparently is not enabled on the CD despite the help contents to the contrary. It has all become moot as the Bios is no longer seeing the HD's. The CDROM still works but Kubuntu 6.06.1 and Alternate still will not boot.

On the live CD, you press F6 when you get to the boot screen and then edit the boot parameters. If you want a little info, just remove the "quiet". If you want all the info (scrolling by at lightning speed), then also delete "splash". Then hit enter to boot.
