    Windows XP - after the fact.

    Stripped my dell notebook and have installed Kubuntu on it. Have all the tools configured and installed and working just the way I like. Now, the other boot drops and I need to have windows on this notebook as well.

    Are there any tools in Linux to resize the partition. Create a new partition for windows. Then install XP and have a boot selector ?

    I would appreciate any ideas on how to get Linux and XP on the notebook without losing all the installs/configs/setup I did in Kubuntu.

    If you have any important data on your hard drive now would be the time to back it up. 99.9% of the time disk repartitions go without a hitch. But if something does go wrong it is impossible (almost) to recover your data.

    You could use gparted live cd to redo the hard drive:

    Installing windows will mess up your Kubuntu boot loader, I've never tried this but this is a link to repair your grub:
