    removing previous kernels

    hello

i want to remove one of the previous kernels from my system. do i just remove the equivalent images from /boot? for instance removing these 2 files would do the job? initrd.img-2.6.15-23-386 , vmlinuz-2.6.15-23-386

    help please. thanks.

    Re: removing previous kernels

You should remove the appropiate kernel packages with your package manager (Adept), that will uninstall old kernels cleanly and update grub.

The kernel packages start with 'linux-' (so filter packages with that in adept), and find the package(s) for 2.6.15-23-386 to remove.

      Re: removing previous kernels

      excellent. thanks.

i found these packages currently installed, using adept.
      linux-image-2.6.15.23-386
      linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15-23-386

i guess i'll go ahead and remove those. thanks for the quick response.
