kubuntu wont completly load

when i boot my computer the kumbuntu splash scree comes up. < not sure if its the splash screen. its a black background with the kubuntu logo and a progress bar > it appears that it is running thru the first list of grub commands?  then the progress  bar starts over then freezes.  HELP please.

You could try booting without the splash to see where your system hangs. You can either edit the boot options in grub menu and remove the 'splash' option or boot into recovery mode (also from the grub menu). That might help pinpoint the problem.
