    Transfer Kubuntu to larger partition

I've decided that my current installation of Kubuntu fits me and does what I need it to do. So I've decided to make the big switch from Windows to Linux and reformat my harddrive so that I can reinstall Kubuntu on a larger partition (currently only on 20GB). I will still want an installation of Windows though. So my question is, I don't really feel like reinstalling Kubuntu from scratch since it did take me a few weeks to get it configured the way it is now with everything mostly working, is there a way I can transfer my current installation of Kubuntu to say an external harddrive, reformat my current harddrive, and then transfer the installation back to the larger partition all in tact? Or is this more complicated than it's worth? Reinstalling from scratch wouldn't be the end of the world. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: It just came to my attention that Edgy Eft will be released pretty soon (Oct 26 right?). Would it be worthwhile waiting until that is released so that I can make a clean install of it?
