    Backup Grub on a floppy

I need to be able start Grub from a floppy as back up for problems with the bootmanager in the MBR.

I would like to produce or be able to access the Grub menu for individual partitions as output.

I have tried 'Grub-floppy' but I have not been able to convert the extensive output into a bootable menu. (My lack of linux knowledge and too many parameters)

Your help is essential and will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

!) Add this line to your /boot/grub/device.map file (as root):

    (fd0) /dev/fd0

    2) In a Konsole do:

    sudo grub-install fd0

...you will get a XFS filesystem error, don't worry about it, it's always that way!

Boot from your floppy as first boot device and try it out...

    ...hasta la vista...

      Thanks Nejode

      Worked like a charm.

Even tells you to ignore the error message!

Re: Backup Grub on a floppy

I have a USB floppy drive and Kubuntu mounts it as /dev/sdb not /dev/fd0. How can I back up GRUB to a floppy using my USB floppy drive?
