    Boot Splash

    I just have a quick question.  How can I change the boot spash on my kubuntu start up screen? Any help is appreciated.

    Do you mean the grub (menu) splash...or the usplash (with the blue kubuntu text on black background)?

    I'm guessing you mean the latter, in which case you can start here:

      Thank you for directing me to the right place. I was thinking of the usplash ( with the blue kubuntu text on black background). But, I was thinking also of the grub (menu) splash. Can you please direct me to the right place to do that?

        One good way to start is to install 'kubuntu-grub-splashimages' package from 'universe'

        The package installs a variety of splash images to /boot/grub/splashimages (they are gzipped xpm images)...and edits /boot/grub/menu.lst to include a splashimage (which you can edit if you wish to try another one...or one of your own)

        You may need to run 'sudo update-grub' to enable a splashimage, though I'm not sure.

        As always when messing with grub, you should make sure you can recover if something goes wrong...a LiveCD is handy.

        'kubuntu-grub-splashimages' should create a backup of your menu.lst, which you can restore in case something goes wrong. :P
