Boot loader problem

By default Kubuntu installs grub on the MBR of /dev/hda.

Is this not like Windows which forces the user to give it the MBR of /dev/hda?

Is there any way of mounting grub on the root partition of the selected drive ?

I wish the Kubuntu installer gave an option to the users in this regard !

If you use the alternate installation disk it gives you that choice, and many more. The idea is to keep things simple on the desktop installation disk so as not to baffle new users.

The user could have been provided an option to select an easy install (grub on MBR) or expert mode (grub on root partition).

You can suggest that HERE. If you're eloquent enough to convince the developers, it might happen in the 7-04 release.
