Any xorg.conf alteration locks up startup

Any kind of alteration I make in /etc/X11/xorg.conf locks up my computer when it boots. I get the Kubuntu startup/shutdown screen with no progress whatsoever. I got an Inspiron 2200 and firstly I thought it was the Intel915GM videocard wich was to blame (because I wanted to set up dual screen), but now I wanted get rid of the stylus support (because of the error messages and such) and it locks up again. It just doesn't start Xwindows.

    KoKodrummel,
Can you get to a command line? If so to this

    sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

This will allow you to setup your xorg.conf. You will need to know your h-sync and v-sync parameters for your monitor and you need to know your video driver such as ATI, Nvidia, Tulip, etc.

This has always fixed my xorg problems
