    Mount other hard drives (windows)

    Hi
I’m new to Linux and trying out Kubuntu after some other distros. I have Windows on one partitioned hard drive and installed Kubuntu on a 2nd hard drive by itself.
The Windows hard drive and its partitions aren’t mounted by Kubuntu which is a pity as Kubuntu seems best so far except for this in terms of loaded apps.
I’ve looked at various fixes on the Web but all seem to expect some understanding of Kubuntu and its commands – beyond this simple confused sole!
Is there a way to simply have Kubuntu mount the other drives automatically when booting (like Mandriva seems to)? (I've tried right-click>mount after finding hdb but the system tell me it can't find the drive in etc something)
If there is – help in simple straightforward terms please – not like ‘run terminal’ etc and enter such and such – Where? do I enter

Also is Ubuntu the same as Kubuntu as far as any of these (or other) instructions go?

    Many thanks

    twinuk
