    packages

A friend of mine installed a Kubuntu on the Imac of his woman (what? can't anyone have a bit of fun? )
He is now confronted with a little issue, do he need special packages for PPC or the base repositories that I use for x86 will do?

    Re: packages

Im assuming he installed the PowerPC version of Kubuntu, therefor in his /etc/apt/sources.list the repositories listed are the one's he needs. I'm pretty sure they are the same as i386 or k7 repos, because packages typically aren't kernel dependent unless they're hardware related.

There are separate packages for four architectures (i386, amd64, sparc and powerpc), different i386 processor types (i386, i686, k7) generally use the same packages (i386)

You can check a 'typical' index of packages in the repository (these are dapper adept packages): http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/e/ept/

        Thank's for clarifying Kubicle.

Capricorn: Your friend can check this site out: http://www.ubuntulinux.nl/source-o-matic You pick the version of (K)Ubuntu and the platform type and it will generate a sources.list.
