Recompile current 6.06 kernel

Hi all,
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum. Please let me know and I'll try to move it. I've search for a howto on how to recompile my current kernel, rather than compiling a new kernel from scratch. Are these tasks essentiallly the same thing.

I'm very pleased with the kernel I have now in relation to hardware, etc., I simply want to make it leaner and faster. Please point me in the right direction.

They're very clear; just follow them and you'll do just fine. Hey, I did it, and if I can do it, anybody can do it!

In fact, I'm doing a compile on my other laptop even as we "speak."
