    no common cdrom found

I put together a box with a core 2 duo 6300. Iam trying to install but it says no common cdrom found. I have a ga-965p-ds3 mobo I have the hd and cdrom on the same ide channel. Only 1 ide connector hd is master cdrom slave. No sata drives.

Lets start with the basics. Does the CD-ROM come up recognized in your BIOS? If it does, try making it master and putting it on the secondary IDE channel and trying that.

Hi. I think you are running into a problem with the Intel 965 chipsets. The Kernel modules installed on the live and install cds don't support the IDE controler or some-such mumbo jumbo.

See this post for info and links

I installed my system with a USB cdrom drive and SATA hard drive.
