hi,
I'm new to linux, so I ordered a cd of Kubuntu. It arrived today so I tried to install Kubuntu on my laptop but the installation fails; the screen goes blank when the graphic interface should appear...
I already tried this but it didn't work :s dunno if I'm doing anything wrong...
1. Boot the live CD with the default options, and allow the screen to go blank.
2. CTRL ALT F1 to a different console.
3. sudo vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Find the Device section. Add a new line inside it:
Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS, AUTO"
4. CTRL ALT F7 back to the X11 window.
5. CTRL ALT BACKSPACE to shutdown and restart. It will work.
found it here: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=187179
so can somebody tell me how to make it work?
thx!
Edit: It worked when I used 'nano' in stead of 'vim' !
