How to correct the xserver-xorg bug without direct net

The nasty problem with the xserver-xorg update bug is that
I can not connect to the network without signing in with a
browser needing X obviously. My laptop has still XP
with which I could download the requirred packages.

My question, since I am novice with debian based distros:
Where and which packages (xserver-xorg, ...) should I
download by ftp, and how one can upgrade these
    packages with apt-get?

    Thanks, Dan

    Dan,
    You have several choices.
    1) You can use a live Kubuntu cdrom to boot your system and update your system to the
    new xserver-xorg-core version 10.4.

    2) Go to: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=241254
and follow the directions given by tseliot. I used the first method he
shows and it worked for me.
