    unable to run kubuntu live

Hi, I am very new to Kubuntu and i'm trying to get it running on an old laptop that i have.

the laptop is an Acer Travelmate 342T, Its pretty ancient.. its specs are:

    Intel 3 500mhz
    128mb ram

When trying to boot it comees up with the message:

irq 15: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option)
    handlers:
    {<c0252040>} (ide_intr+0x0/0x200)

If i try to boot with the IRQPOLL option it gets to different stages of the boot and just stops. For example, i'm just trying to boot now and it's gotten to "configuring some drivers" and has been sittting there with OK for over 30mins.

Any ideas? is this laptop too old to run kubuntu perhaps?

    thanks
    Adam

Probably not, but it might not have enough memory. On the other hand, the IRQ 15 thing would seem to indicate that it may not have an adequate interrupt controller. That is not a function of age, but rather of penny-pinching, or perhaps, a previously un-noticed hardware failure.

Try downloading a copy of Knoppix and see if that will run live...www.distrowatch.org
