    2.4 kernel boot option

I see when i boot up that i have the options along the lines of

    ubuntu kernal 2.6.13x25
    ubuntu kernal 2.6.13x25[recovery mode]
    ubuntu kernal 2.6.13x26
    ubuntu kernal 2.6.13x25[recovery mode]
    other operating systems

Is there a way to get 2.4.x installed as a boot option without repartitioning and installing an old version of ubuntu on that new partition?

PS. this is an attempt at a workaround for cdrecord problems!

I assume you are using K3b and it won't burn to CD?

If so open a console and type kdesu k3b and run it as root user. It should then work.

    Hope this helps

already tryed to kdesu k3b and dozens of other things. BUT you are exactly right. I'll try just reinstalling every program involved in cd burning and THEN doing the kdesu. Thanks though.

          Hi,

It seems that you can get a 2.4 installed directly... Anyway I'm not sure you will be able to get this old version working as it needs other binaries which are not compatible with 2.6 kernels... It's only memories of passing from 2.4 to 2.6
Anyway, you can download your own version on kernel.org and try to compile it, no ?

          Good luck

heh, yah i was looking for the kernel's when i realized taht nothing BUT cdrecord would really work. I guess i'll just qparted myself another partition and put an old version on there.
