    VIRTUAL MACHINE FOR KUBUNTU

    hello,
    i can't afford to pay for vmware workstation. is there an open source software that will boot kubuntu on top of windows. i don't want to boot windows on top of kubuntu so no 'WINE'. i know how to obtain the license for vmware workstation but i am 100% piracy. thankyou.

    I think VMWare Server is available for free. You could use that. Alternatively, you could also use the free VMWare Player and make an image using Qemu. I'm not really familiar with the whole process, and I've quite forgotten how I did that before in Windows. But I do remember the names, if they're of any help.

      I downloaded and installed the free Vmware Player from here http://www.vmware.com/download/player/

      Then I downloaded a Kubuntu "appliance" from here http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/directory/456

      It has worked great for me.........using right now on top of WinXp home.....

      It even uses the wireless interface on my laptop (that Kubuntu can't natively because of broadcom wireless chip)
