How do I tell if the upgrade installed correctly?

Hi All,

I have (hopefully) a simple question. I just followed the instructions on

http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/dapper.php

to upgrade from Breezy to Dapper, but I'm not sure how to tell that everything upgraded correctly. Upon reboot, I was given the same boot menu I normally am and I didn't see a new Kernel option so I was wondering if perhaps something went wrong.

How would I go about verifying that I installed Dapper? For example, what KDE should I be running? How do I tell that I am running Kubuntu 6.06? That sort of thing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hmm - your sources.list says that you are using dapper repos ?

# deb cdrom:[Kubuntu 6.06 _Dapper Drake_ - Release i386 (20060531)]/ dapper main restricted

and all the rest dappers..

In the konsole: uname -a

uname - print system information

My:

~$ uname -a
Linux Ammu2500L 2.6.15-26-k7 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 3 03:40:32 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux

KDE versions : from 3.5.2 to 3.5.4 (at the moment 2006-08-08). It's 3.5.2 if you have not added 3.5.3/3.5.4 repos.

To tell which version of Kubuntu you are running, type this in Konsole:

lsb_release -a

To find out which version of KDE you are using, open up Help > About KDE in any KDE program.
