Kubuntu doesn't recognize LCD screen???(X fails to boot)

I don't get into my kubuntu........

My laptop has an onboard Intel GMA 900 graphics,
    Intel Pentium M 740 1.73 GHz processor,
1 Gig of DDR2 memory (kingston),
    and a 60GB hd....

But if I press CTRL ALT F1, and log in manually, then press startx I get the following:

(WW) I810: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:0:2:1) found
(EE) I810:No Video Bios modes for chosen depth.
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

    Fatal server error:
    no screens found
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

I've tried something, i connected my LCD screen from my normal computer to the laptop, and suddently kubuntu starts up!!
Not on my desktop LCD, but on my Laptop LCD

And I must say that when I was in kubuntu, the LCD said every minute:

"LCD changed: Display on" or something like that...

Is it now clearer for some people??
    Looks familiar?

    Please help me!!

    Yours,

    Nick

    Hi,

For me it's because your X is trying to use a too high definition for the LCD...
Can you make a backup of the /etc/X11/xorg.conf and reconfigure it ?
    sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

    Cheers

Re: Kubuntu doesn't recognize LCD screen(X fails to boot)

Thanks!! I reconfigured X (in a fast way ) and it worked, now i can find out why this happens and make a proper bug report, because on every laptop i installed it, it had the same prob.....

I will come with the solution ASAP, but VERY VERY much thank you's for you!!

      Greetings,

      Nick

B.T.W: It seems that the Intel GMA900 uses driver I810, but on a fresh install it uses the vesa driver , AND the adapter frequency is maybe to high...hmmm...

Re: Kubuntu doesn't recognize LCD screen(X fails to boot)

        Thank you!
Prewarning: I'm a complete Linux n00b! I have a laptop also and when I installed Kubuntu it was running in a lower resolution than I expected. I tried installing the nvidia drivers from the universal repositary and when I rebooted X wouldn't start. Of course being a complete n00b I had no idea what was going on, all I had was what looked like the loading screen with an empty progress bar!
Thanks to this thread I was able to reconfigure X and get it back on its feet, and in a better resolution that it was at before!

You saved me from giving up on Linux *again*

Cool I'm happy... Maybe you will have once enough good experience to work more on linux than one a os you need to pay for

          Cheers
