    Installation Problem

Hi, I'm trying to install Kubuntu on my x86 desktop. I download the iso and verified the checksum. I have burned 2 cds at 1x and have gotten then same result both times.

I am able to boot off the cd and select one of the options. I select the first one and it starts booting and fails on the "Mounting root filesystem.." But it never says fail, it just sits there for awhile then goes to a black screen with "Booting kernel... Done!" (or close to that) on it and just sits there forever.

    Any help?

    Re: Installation Problem

Which CD are you using. Desktop or Alternate? For which processor 386, AMD64 or PPC? Did you try to check the md5sums of the individual files on the disk (see this page for how to do this in Linux.)? What happens if you try another alternative?
