Hi, I installed Kubuntu Dapper from DVD on a TP X60s. After installation of knetworkmanager (makes WPA configuration easy), wireless was working.
Because the X60s is a dual core machine, I changed the kernel from a 386 to a 686 one. After rebooting wireless was dead. It turned out that the new kernel did not install the appropriate module ipw3945-2.6.15-25-686 in /sbin. After renaming an existing module from *386 to *686 and rebooting wireless was ok again.
So whoever is responsible for packaging the linux-images should take care of this module in the linux-image-2.6.15-25-686
