hissing sound starts during boot

I have installed Dapper 64bit. I have the Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-SLI motherboard with onboard sound (realtek AC97). When I boot a hissing sound starts up and keeps going. I can play sounds but the hissing is so loud I can hardly hear them.

That seems like a hardware problem, but you can try looking at kmix and turning various things down to see if you can stop the hissing without stopping the sound.
