    [c] Kubuntu Installer Freeze

[c] I'm relatively new to Linux. Tried SuSe a while back and give up on it. Then a friend suggested Ubuntu. Being more a fan of KDE than GNOME, I gave Kubuntu a try. However, in the process of installing Dapper Drake's base system, the whole thing froze at 6% on bsdutils. I tried googling it and found that this isn't an uncommon problem with several workable solutions, including this one:

I tried dropping into the shell, downloading the iso, unmounting the CD, etc. However, even doing all of this well before the 6% freeze won't allow me to unmount the CD. Are there any other ways around the 6% freeze?

My system has 128 MB RAM, 40.0 GB HD, and an 800 mHz AMD Athalon Processor. I don't know the make and speed of my CD-ROM drive (of the computer it's being installed on) off hand, but the install CD was burned on a computer with a Samsung CD-R/RW SW-248F with a 48x burning speed (I used 8x while burning, however) Yeah, the system's rather old, but I used the x86 alternate install iso, keeping in mind I had less that 192 MB.
