    Problems with installation

    Hello,

I have downloaded the installation CD for 6.06 from 3 different mirrors which I have 3 different discs of. I have not been able to boot from any of the CD's that I burn. To confirm is not BIOS related, I have booted a Fedora Install Cd, and also BeaTrix.

    To Verify:

I am running an Intel Processor, all new hardware including MotherBoard, Hard Drives, CD rom.

    Please Help!

    Thank you!

    Just to check:

    1. Have you checked the MD5SUMS of the ISO's you downloaded?
    2. Have you burned it as a CD image, not as a data CD?
    3. What error message do you receive when you boot from the CD?
    4. Which ISO did you download, btw? (Desktop CD, Alternate Install CD, Server install CD)

      1. I have used fsum to check all of the ISO's they all match up.
      2. I burned the Disc with Nero on XP machine under (Burn Image to Disk)
      3. I get an error that reads something like Invalid System Disk (I forgot the exact wording I'll try again and write it down)
      4. I have tried 2 versions of the Alternate Install CD and I'm burning a Desktop CD now.

Hmm... if that's the error message you receive, I would guess that somehow, the system didn't correctly identify the CD or it was a bad burn. I'm not sure if Image burning in Nero has this option, but I think you're not supposed to burn it as a bootable CD?

Thank you Jucato for your help!

I burned another CD (the same way I did before and was able to get it to boot, as I'm Writing this from my newly installed Kubuntu!

I'm not quite sure what the problem was, but it is fixed now!

maybe the problem was that you were burning too fast? Setting a slower burn speed can reduce the number of errors on CD media significantly (like when my brother tries to burn an MP3 CD on 52x and then acts rambunctious around the computer then wonders why the CD skips.. )
