Please help me with the following cryptic message. I am trying to boot Kubuntu 6.06 AMD64 and each time i try the following appears.
"{pci_mmcfg_read +239} RSP"
"CR2: 00000000e0100000"
"<0>Kernel panic -not syncing: attempted to kill init!"
after this the machine just sits, need to flick power switch on wall to get it back to life.
I have tried a myriad of options only one gets me past the lockup, and it is "acpi=off" this gets me to the lovely "mounting root blah blah blah" but it never does because with this option it claims it can't access the dvd drives which are both ide.
The i386 version boots no problem but as ever i want a 64bit desktop on my 64bit box, not too much to ask. *Is it?*
The install options etc are identical on both i386 and AMD64 ie"preseed/file=cdrom/preseed/kubuntu........." But no joy. Hmph I can't go back to 32bit kubuntu after using the 5x series in 64bit mode.
Regards Zara... *i hate asking for help with something which is probably trivial, but hey we all need to swallow our pride now and then!*
