SOLVED - Keyboard problem with " and @ keys- and others

Kubuntu Dapper 6.06 is running fine but I have a problem with using the " and @ keys in that the " key gives me @ and vice versa. Kepboard is set to US.

This does not happen when I boot from the LiveCD

Help please.

edited xorg.conf and changed option XkLayout to "us"
