While trying to correct another problem I did something that caused Kubuntu/Dapper to not let me login. The login manager WAS set to autologin w/5 sec. delay. It won't do that and when I enter my PW it just goes back to the same login screen. I'm a noob but I know I haven't changed my PW. Can anyone help me solve this? Or tell me the procedure to use a live CD to set a new PW?

Re: Can't login
You should check out what your kdm is telling you when you autologin...
Enter in console mode (<Ctrl>+<Alt>+<F1>)
login with your usual login
then read the log file to find anomalies (cat /var/log/kdm.log)
Into this, it should tell you why you can't login...
Cheers

Re: Can't login
Thanks sky. I was able to change my password both by logging in in recovery mode and using a live cd. Didn't help the login screen kept going back to itself so I reinstalled Kubuntu before I got your post and will now try to correct the original problem [internet on live Kubuntu cd but no internet in install]. Thanks again.
