    Boot problem - cannot install

When I try to install kubuntu(dapper dvd) it gives an error message saying something like 'cannot allocate resource sector 7'. It then goes no further.
When i pass root=/dev/hda instead of /dev/ram it goes a little further then drops me into a shell(ash).

Any ideas, is this a dapper problem? I just dont want to waste all the time downloading breezy if its the same problem.

I cannot say for sure that your problem is restricted to Dapper and that downloading and burning the Breezy install CD will fix all your problems. I can say that the Dapper installer is still experimental, a week or two ago, it was wiping people's partition tables! I think you would do much better by installing Breezy.
