Re: Problems with Grub on Dapper flight 4

First, a couple of comments. if you are new not only to this forum, but also to Linux, you would do much better by installing Breezy (Kubuntu 5-10) which is the stable version of Kubuntu, instead of Dapper, Kubuntu 6-06, which will not be formally released until June. Dapper is beta test software that is subject to bugs. If on the other hand you are an experienced Linux user, you should probably using Dapper 5, rather than 4, it's obviously a little newer.

Second, the usual queries relative to a CDROM install. Did you check the md5sum, prior to the burn? Did you burn at a reasonably slow speed? What did it say on the line BEFORE the line on which it hung?

Re: Problems with Grub on Dapper flight 4

I have been on Linux for a few weeks and i had Breezy... Now i've cleared it to install the Xgl-Compiz window manager, that, i read, could be installed only on Dapper. I think the Cd-rom works because writing was attempted successully and I made the cd do the check before installation... and I burned cd-rom twice...

Ah, i noticed that there is a newest version avaiable: Dapper flight 6.
I downloaded it but the cd-rom fresh-burned doesn't boot at all...

      Thanks

Any advice about the installation CD of Dapper flight 6
        It doesn't boot here

I've controlled the checksum and it fits...
And there wasn't any error in the burning, i think

        Thanks for help
