I tried to boot using lilo, the boot manager I use to use.
So, I did:
Installed lilo from the new kubuntu/dapper 4 system
using apt-get (adept does not work - see another post
in this forum). I did not run lilo here.
Rebooted by current Gentoo installation and entered the
following in my lilo.conf:
image = /SDB6/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-15-386
root = /dev/sdb6
label = "Kubuntu"
read-only
append = "ro quiet splash"
initrd = /SDB6/boot/initrd.img-2.6.15-15-386
Note: /SDB6 is the partition /dev/hdb6, where the new
kubuntu/dapper 4 system was installed.
After running lilo and rebooting I got the usual
splash but the system hangs after the second message
"Mounting root filesystem" blanking the screeen and
displaying a blinking cursor on the upper left corner.
Needed to type CTRL+ALT+DEL.
Thanks for any help/comments.
