hey guys,i just finished installing kubuntu but during the installation i wasn't asked for a root password(wich i thought was very strange,this is the first distro that i've come across that didn't ask for one)but i really need it because i need to activate my realtek nic from the control centre.so....how do i do this after installing or is there a default root password?

You don't need root.
Ubuntu uses the same security model Mac OS X uses, and no Mac users complain about it.
If you want to activate realtek nice from the Control Center, do Alt-F2 (to launch the "Run" command) and typeCode:kdesu kcontrol

I'm becoming very happy with kubuntu with only a couple hours use so far.
