Hi and thanks for the wonderfull forum !

I want install Kubuntu 5.10 (first) and Windows 98 (second). I have a Dell 2.66 Mhz, 512 mb ram, 30 Gb hard disk. I dont know how to distribute the hard disk space (partitions).

    Hi,

In fact, it depends how you want to use them both... For example, You can give windows 5G if you don't want to install a lot of things on it (I think it's the case if you want it as 2nd)
For linux, you can give it few partitions :
    /boot
    /
    /home
    swap

I think it's a good beginning, after it always depends on what you want to do with it....

    Cheers

Re: installing kubuntu and windows 98

A few things to consider (the choices depend on your needs of course)

      1. As Linux has full support for FAT32 used by Win98, you might store your media files etc. on your Windows partition and still have full read/write access to them in kubuntu.

      2. It's easier to install Win98 first, linux will recognize it and set up your multi-boot on install, the other way around Windows will overwrite the MBR...and reinstalling grub will take some extra effort.

      3. As sky pointed out...the space division between win and linux depends on how you're going to use them (are you planning to install a lot of large games on Win etc.)
