    kubuntu not booting......

hi, i had installed kubuntu a month ago and its working fine.i downloaded some movies. After that i logged out and switched to windows XP.Later when i started kubuntu..its not booting.Initially kubuntu screen come late it remains blank.I started in recovery mode but got these errors

    " Activating SWAP file swap......[Fail]
mkdir : cannot create directory '/tmp/.xll-unix' : No space left on device.
gzip:/var/log//dmesg.o.gz : NO space left on device.
mv : cannot start '/var/log//dmesg.o.gz' :no such file or directory."
one of the reason might be no space on drive.i tried to delete some data by logging through command shell...but not able to delete the directories it says directory is not empty.

can any one suggest how to solve the above problem.

For starters: du and/or df as well as apt-get clean
(for details, please refer to this forum's archive ...).
