Kubuntu 6.10 Live CD Load Problem

I just got my Kubuntu install cd in the mail today and i am trying to install it on my pc:

601.4 Mhz Intel Processor
254Mb SDRAM
intel i810 chipset

i got to the part where i choose install/start Kubuntu
i remove quiet and splash from the boot options so i see what is happening
that boots until it gets to detecting usb
i get this error message:

repeatedly

i always have trouble booting live cds on this computer
is there any way to install without booting a live cd??

Instead of trying to bypass it, I'd rather attempt to solve the problem, e.g. by means of a "real" live system with excellent hardware recognition, or, in short: Knoppix and, most notably: the boot codes provided with it ...

I just found out what was wrong with my computer... i need a new motherboard!
after a while of trying to boot kubuntu it wouldnt load anything and had a insert system disk error and would no longer use any removable media.......
ive got another MB im putting in it one day
