Kubuntu 6.06.1 want run from cd

I'm new to linux and before i install it i wanted to test it first so i download the kubuntu-6.06.1-desktop-i386 iso and burn it on a cd. When i reboot my system it doesn't run.. it goes no futher then:

Uncompressing linux... Ok, booting the kernel.

After that nothing happens and my system seems to hang. My system:

Packard Bell Computer
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.06 Ghz
Speed 3.06 Ghz, 1,00 GB
Windows XP Home Service Pack 2

Your hardware is probably unsupported.

Hi,

Quite strange, usually this kind of processor runs well on kubuntu, maybe you should try edgy ?
Anyway, how long did you wait for the system to boot ?

it maybe worth while re-burning the CD but at a slower speed
try burning it at about 8x then try the install ...

Try. Boot from safe graphics mode. Disconnect Network Cable.
