The only other explanation that I could have would be driver issues. From what I have noticed, this is a pretty new machine and there might be something that the machine contains that the disk does not contain the driver for, thus not allowing it to boot into the live disk. I know that's a really sh*tty answer, but it's really the only thing I can think of. Hopefully someone else will be able to kick in here in a bit to help out. Sorry mate.

The elive CD seemed really robust -- if you don't mind waiting 38 hours for the ISO to download. It detected video, audio, and networking stuff better than any live CD I've seen. Get it here: http://www.elivecd.org/gb/Download/Stable/

ok, ill try it, is it still anything like kubuntu?

It's very, very cool. It uses the Enlightenment desktop environment -- you can choose from E16 or E17, which is the latest. It was playing streaming radio before I ever touched a key.

The only problem for me is it is Debian ver. 2.6.15, so it does not recognize dual core CPUs like my X6800. So I wasn't pleased with it for that reason. But if it ever gets updated to a later kernel, I'll look at it again, because it really nailed the installation.

I recommend you give it a try -- maybe it will like your hardware better than Kubuntu. Kubuntu can be a bit picky about hardware.
