Change CPU -- Are there Problems?

Hi guys,
at my first Post, I got a question:
I want to buy me a new system, but i got not enough cash for everything. So i want to know if there are any Promblems/Things i have to look for.
I am forced to reinstall Kubuntu? Or can i just change my P4 530 Prescott with ( later ) my Core 2 Duo E4300 ?

if its just the CPU you are upgrading then you should have no problems
kubuntu will pick up the new CPU at boot

you can check this in the kinfocenter ...

Your Linux kernal should pick up new hardware you install with no problems. I have in the past taken my harddrive from one system to another and it was still able to boot. I have also upgrade my system numerous times i.e. processor, ram and mother board with the same installed harddrive.
