I am having trouble getting windows in KDE to move or resize smoothly. Text rendering appears exceptionally slow. When I resize a window (even extremely slow - a pixel at a time) the window contents don't keep up. It's as if they are repainting every half-second to second.
As I have most experience with MS Windows, the best example I can give to where I've seen this behavior before is Java apps running in Windows. Resizing them is slow, choppy, etc. It's obvious they are interpreted or emulated.
My stats and info and whatnot:
AMD Athlon 64 3800+
2 GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon X1300 video
Currently running Kubuntu Dapper i386 (but I've tried Dapper64, Edgyi386, and Dapper64)
Currently using fglrx drivers (tried both fglrx and the direct-from-ATI drivers on all of the above kernel versions)
I'm pretty desperate for ideas here =/ I haven't been able to find any information at all on this so far. Thanks in advance
