    Canon FS 2710

I am looking for any information on getting a Canon FS 2710 up and running on my box. One of those projects that I want to research first to save several little Rolaids life. Looking for any and all help. Opps Running Dapper

If you are referring to the Canoscan 2710S SCSI Film Scanner, you can find it at SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy), but don't count on it being easy. If you're referring to some other Canon product, never mind.

I don't have a Canoscan FS 2710 myself, but Cannon are well established with SANE and it is shown as "Good" compatibility on their website.

        First do

        locate sane

in a console to see if you have SANE installed. If not do

        sudo apt-get update

        then

        sudo apt-get install sane

in a console. Once installed, turn your PC off. Connect the scanner, then fire it up again. SANE should automatically recognise it, but fire up Kooka to see if its recognised. If not, then come back here, because this is where the tricky stuff starts

I have exactly the same question. I am working with Ubuntu however, not kUbuntu. But I guess it is not very different.

In my case I checked if sane was installed, and it is! However the scanner is not recognized. Is it perhaps necessary to install anything for the SCSI?
