ALSA SOUND PROBLEM

HELLO EVERYBODY
I have an intel d101ggc with onboard realtek sound card
well i was able to hear the test sound in kubuntu
does that mean MY SOUND CARD IS BEING DETECTED??
but i was not able to hear any mp3 and mpeg sounds!!!!
what should i do ?
could anyone plz clarify

Well I guess you have the codecs for mp3 playback installed !?
