I have a Dell A920 connected via USB. I have managed to add it using the CUPS web interface but when I send a job nothing happens. The interface shows all my test jobs as if they printed fine. Where should I begin troubleshooting this?

did you have a look at the log files provided by CUPS, accessible trough it's web interface, i.e. http://localhost:631/admin? Especially when you raise the log level to "debug" (first entry in CUPS' main config file), they hopefully will prove more informative then the mere printer / jobs page.

I don't think Linux-geeks use printers. There are many many many dozens of queries like yours and mine that, if we're lucky, get the odd response. But the guys (plural?) that know about printers stay very very very quiet.......................Comment
