I have an ATI Radeon video card, 9550. Based on the numerous threads on this topic and my own experience, I come to the conclusion that this is "bad" card for kubuntu.
It works, just with no OpenGL or 3D support
I even installed the latest driver: ATI 8.30.3, which advertised 3D support but was disappointed.
I also tried the worthless Mesa drivers, my adjective should be self explanitory how that worked out.
As a noob to linux, I was wondering if I should just ditch the ATI card and try the onboard video on the motherboard? Could that actually be a better way to go?
