Is it possible that Kubuntu won't partition NTFS-disk's or even install on NTFS disk's ?

NTFS is a file system owned and used my Micro$soft and it's products exclusively. And, due to the fact that M$ won't disclose the basic structures of this file system, I doubt very much that NTFS could be used as foundation for any kind of Unix / Linux operating system. There's simply no point in reverse-engineer a proprietary file system of moderate quality if (better) alternatives are allready available. And, of course, doing so would contradict the basic ideas of Open Source at one of the most critical points of an operating system ...
