Hi!
This one is a bit frusterating. I connect regularly to 2 access points: one at home, we'll call this generically, "HOME", and one that i connect to at school. Recently, at school, we turned off the (yes, i'm an admin at school :P) setting so that the browser no longer broadcasts it's essid. The reason for this is that we had at least one known unauthorized connection. We want our network to stay hidden.
At home, i can currently connect just fine with kwifimanager, or the program i normally use, wlassistant. Both work just fine, to both networks until we stopped broadcasting the essid.
However, now, i can connect to my home network, but NOT to the school's network. I tried manually setting the network with iwconfig and ifconfig, but neither setting helped at all.
Anyone know if (and how) it's possible to connect to a wireless network that is NOT broadcasting it's essid?
The following may help:
Wireless card: broadcom 4318, built-in to laptop
Wireless network: Linksys wireless b/g router, essid broadcasting off, WEP 64-bit encryption on
Card driver: ndiswrapper + broadcom drivers from compaq's website
NOTE: both networks connect just fine while essid broadcast is ON.
Thanks!
