I have thouroughly scoured the internet, these forums, those forums, and my backyard and I still can't get this damn thing to work.
I have a Philips HDD6330 GOgear mp3 player. when I try cat /proc/bus/usb/devices i get this fun message:
T: Bus=03 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=04 Cnt=02 Dev#= 8 Spd=480 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=0471 ProdID=014b Rev= 0.21
S: Manufacturer=Philips
S: Product=Philips HDD63XX GoGear
S: SerialNumber= XXXXXXXXX
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#=128 Atr=c0 MxPwr=500mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=(none)
E: Ad=01(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 512 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=82(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 512 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 512 Ivl=1ms
- Well it recognizes the device, but not the driver. Since my knowledge is somewhat limited I got stuck here.
After pondering throwing my comp into the tub I searched more and found a tool called sg3-utils.
did the sg_scan -i adn got this:
/dev/sg1: scsi2 channel=0 id=0 lun=0 [em]
eM Bay Reader 1.00 [rmb=1 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x0]
/dev/sg2: scsi2 channel=0 id=0 lun=1 [em]
eM Bay Reader 1.01 [rmb=1 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x0]
/dev/sg3: scsi2 channel=0 id=0 lun=2 [em]
eM Bay Reader 1.02 [rmb=1 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x0]
/dev/sg4: scsi2 channel=0 id=0 lun=3 [em]
eM Bay Reader 1.03 [rmb=1 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x0]
/dev/sg5: scsi1 channel=0 id=0 lun=0 [em]
HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-2166D 1.01 [rmb=1 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x5]
-Ok wtf its not there. But i still did sg_map and got this:
/dev/sg0 not present
/dev/sg1 /dev/sdb
/dev/sg2 /dev/sdc
/dev/sg3 /dev/sdd
/dev/sg4 /dev/sde
/dev/sg5 /dev/scd0
- Awesome! more confusion. How about something simple like lsusb.....nope:
Bus 003 Device 008: ID 0471:014b Philips
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 152e:2507 LG (HLDS)
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0a48:3239 I/O Interconnect
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
- its there but the info is no help.
- lsmod shows usb_storage :
ohci_hcd 22788 0
usbcore 139012 4 usb_storage,ehci_hcd,ohci_hcd
ide_cd 36228 0
- In case this is impportant ls /media:
cdrom cdrom0 gogear hda1 hda4 hda5 hda6 hda7 hdc scd0 sdb1 sde1 sdf1 usb
- I added the gogear folder myself
Does anyone have any ideas or just a plain answer for how to mount it.
PS
1. Opengogear will not install so don't suggest it
2. Pygogear expects the device to be mounted
3. Opengogear.deb is very angry at me and will not believe that I have libid3-3.83ca2 installed or for that matter SqLite.
